The installation in the exhibition Faked Death deals with the history and present of the city of Ludwigsburg, particularly the present-day art center’s original function as a onetime barracks whose stables now serve as the exhibition space. The conceptual basis of the exhibition is provided by the cityscape’s architectural idiosyncrasies and contrasts, such as the Baroque palace, which dates to 1733, and the Marstall Center, a shopping center built in the brutalist style in the 1970s. It also includes everyday and incidental aspects of urban life such as the graphic symbols on plastic bags, or rephotographed imagery found on the internet. Busch has also photographed tableaus constructed in the studio, then fragmented and recomposed the resulting images. By nesting and overlapping these fragments, she creates a collage of the city and the exhibition site with which she conjures intimations, observations, and atmospheres.

Die Installation der Ausstellung ‚Faked Death‘ thematisiert Geschichte und Gegenwart der Stadt Ludwigsburg, insbesondere die ursprüngliche Funktion des heutigen Kunstzentrums als ehemalige Kaserne mit den Pferdestallungen, die heute als Ausstellungsraum dienen. Architektonische Besonderheiten und Kontraste im Stadtbild, wie das barocke Residenzschloss aus dem Jahr 1733 oder das in den 1970er Jahren im brutalistischen Stil erbaute Marstall Center, einem Einkaufszentrum, sind die konzeptionelle Grundlage für die Ausstellung. Hierzu gehören auch alltägliche, urbane oder beiläufige Aspekte wie grafische Zeichen auf Plastiktüten oder im Internet gefundenes und selbst fotografiertes Bildmaterial. Im Studio gebaute Settings werden fotografiert und die Ergebnisse fragmentiert und neu komponiert. Durch Überlappungen und Verschachtelungen dieser Fragmente entsteht eine Collage der Stadt und des Ausstellungsortes, die Andeutungen, Bemerkungen und Atmosphären erahnen lässt.
